There was a big announcement in the race for the Democratic nomination to take on Lamar Smith in TX-21: Chris Perri has decide to step out of this race and instead move over to TX-25 to challenge Roger Williams.
It’s been a very difficult choice because I love the people of District 21. Their support and energy have deeply moved me. But what makes the decision easier is knowing they’re in good hands. I have no doubt that the strong field of Democratic candidates in District 21 is taking Lamar Smith to task for his corruption and heartless “representation.”
I got to know Chris well over the last few months, and I know him to be a good man and a true progressive. I wish him well. If you live in TX-25, Chris deserves your consideration for the nomination.
I am also honored to hear Chris say we have a strong field. We can beat Lamar Smith with the right candidate. I am the only one in this race with the leadership experience on big issues like healthcare, affordable housing, and transportation and the only one with broad-based community support, earning the endorsements of over 200 community leaders throughout the district including former State Senator Gonzalo Barrientos and Travis County Judge Sarah Eckhardt.
The field has narrowed, and now is the time to come together. Please take a moment to make a contribution so we can win in 2018!
