Rep. Rodriguez joins over 200 community leaders in supporting McFadden as he officially files for the 2018 Democratic Primary

AUSTIN— Today, State Representative Eddie Rodriguez (D-Austin) endorsed Elliott McFadden as he officially filed for Texas Congressional District 21 in the March 2018 Democratic Primary.

“I am proud to endorse my friend Elliott McFadden because we need a proven leader who shares our progressive values to fight the corruption and rot taking hold in Washington, DC,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez joins over 200 progressive community leaders throughout Central Texas in supporting McFadden for the Democratic nomination.

“I worked with Elliott at the Travis County Democratic Party and on the campaigns to establish the Travis County Healthcare District and $65 million affordable housing bond. On the big issues from healthcare to housing, Elliott has earned the reputation for working tirelessly to promote smart policy solutions that have increased the quality of life for countless people in our community,” Rodriguez added.

McFadden filed for office today with the petition of over 1000 signatures from voters supporting his place on the ballot.

“Elliott McFadden has what it takes to win this competitive race, and I believe that he will be an extremely effective advocate for the people of the Texas 21st District,” said Rodriguez.

Elliott McFadden is the non-profit CEO of Austin B-cycle, one of the most successful bike share systems in the United States. Prior to that, he was the Executive Director of the Travis County Democratic Party, was part of the leadership team that created the Travis County Healthcare district, and led the campaign that passed a $65 million affordable housing bond. McFadden is campaigning to make our economy fair again and reform our corrupt government through Medicare for All, free college tuition at public schools, and banning corporate money from federal elections.
